DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to announce the first two speakers of 2026. The meeting will be held via Zoom. \nWe are lucky to have two excellent speakers: Professor Mark Bailey of the University of East Anglia\, who has written extensively on various aspects of the late medieval economic and social history of England; and Professor Emeritus Chris Dyer of the University of Leicester\, who has written extensively on both social and economic history\, and medieval archaeology. There names will be very familiar to many of us. \nThere will be two sessions with Professor Bailey speaking in the morning session. This will open from 10.45am with the talk beginning around 11.00am. The session will end no later than 12.15pm. \nProf. Mark Bailey\, ‘ The transition from rents in kind and labour to cash rents in medieval England’ \nIn the afternoon session Prof. Dyer will speak. The session will open at around 1.30pm with the talk commencing shortly thereafter. The session will end no later than 2.45pm. \nProf. Chris Dyer\, ‘Manorial court rolls for Brewood and Rugeley\, Staffordshire: separating town and country’ \nIf you are a member you will already have received notice of the event\, If you are not a member and you would like to join the meeting there is a charge of £5. The committee of the Society would appreciate your participation since the holding of the AGM is obligatory under the rules of the Society.. \n  \n
